Needs separating with considerable care from Red Twin-spot Carpet, and is much less common than that species and plainly in decline.&nbsp; Most likely to be met with where large areas of semi-natural grassland habitat still exist.<br>

Balsam Carpet

A resident species of damp woodland and pasture, largely confined to south-east England and East Anglia, whose larval foodplant is Orange Balsam and Small Balsam. The only county record is from Bickenhall, in south Somerset, in 1958.

Needs separating with considerable care from Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet.&nbsp; Common and widespread right across the county, occurring in two broods, the second slightly larger than the former.<br>
