     “…the localities in which it is found are wooded hillsides with a thin undergrowth of wych elm” (J. Mason, Clevedon, Ent. Rec 1890).  A moth of damp ravine woodlands with good populations of its sole foodplant, Wych Elm Ulmus glabra.  It is often met with in these situations in the Mendips and northwards to the Bristol area, and in a scatter of other areas around the county, Orchard Wood in the Blackdowns being a particular hot-spot.
