Rare and probably declining - a dozen records with only three this century, the most recent in 2013.&nbsp; The adults come to light, which suggest it is genuinely rare rather than under-recorded.

Autumnal Shade

Rare and local, though almost certainly under-recorded because it flies during the winter.&nbsp; Currently only known from Merryfield Airfield.&nbsp; A. H. Turner used to record it regularly at Bickenhall in the 1940s and 1950s.&nbsp; There is an older record from Brislington.&nbsp; The moth breeds on Blackthorn <i>Prunus spinosa</i>, and may be present at other sites.

Winter Shade

Fairly common and almost certainly considerably under-recorded, as it flies during the winter, with gaps in its distribution probably reflecting lack of recorders.&nbsp;&nbsp;
