Bordered Carl

Common and widespread as a miner of bramble, though nowhere near as abundant as its fellow leaf-miner <i>Stigmella aurella</i>; other than perhaps parts of Exmoor, gaps in distribution are more likely to reflect absence of recorders than absence of the moth.

Oak Carl

A fairly common and widespread moth, usually recorded as a leaf-mine on oak and likely to be recorded everywhere oak is plentiful.

Small Carl

Usually recorded as a leaf-miner on oak.&nbsp; Much rarer than its close relative T. ekebladella, with most records from the Blackdowns and Quantocks; it might potentially be found in oak woods on Exmoor.&nbsp; Very rare in VC6, only recorded to date from Hollow Marsh and long ago from Shapwick Heath.
