Angle Shades

Widespread and common right across the county, though numbers seem to have fallen since 2006.&nbsp; Double-brooded, the second brood being larger than the first.&nbsp; Rather more frequently found as a larva than most species.

Old Lady

Reported in small numbers every
year, usually at light, despite its reputation for not being attracted to
light.&nbsp; It appears most common north of
the Mendips or south of the Poldens, being scarce or absent from a large
section of central Somerset.

Common across much of the county
though absent from areas in the far east and west.&nbsp; Frequently recorded at light in ones and
twos, occasionally in considerable numbers.
