Common Alder Midget

Widespread, and the commonest of the alder-feeding Phyllonorycters.&nbsp; As well as the native Alnus glutinosa, it has been reared from the non-native Italian Alder Alnus cordata, which is often planted as an amenity tree in urban areas.

Dark Hornbeam Midget

A leaf-miner on Hornbeam, which is not a common tree in Somerset, and with a restricted distribution as a result.&nbsp; The mines are often present in considerable numbers where the tree is to be found.

Grey-alder Midget

Restricted to Grey Alder Alnus incana, a very scarce tree in Somerset.&nbsp; Four isolated populations known - Merryfield Airfield, Gordano Valley, Chew Valley Lake, Lord's Wood.&nbsp; It is possible others exist on stands of Grey Alder.
