Red Hazel Midget

Widely distributed and fairly common wherever hazel occurs, though nowhere near as abundant as <i>Phyllonorycter coryli</i> which shares the same foodplant.&nbsp; A species where the mines can often be numerous in one area of a hedgerow, but absent from adjacent parts.

Small Alder Midget

A widespread and moderately common miner of alders.

Broad-barred Midget

Probably the scarcest of the four Phyllonorycter species mining common alder <i>Alnus glutinosa</i>, but still fairly widespread where the foodplant is found, and probably more evenly distributed across the county than the distribution map currently suggests.
