NoctuidaeABH 73.221 B&F 2268A widely distributed resident and immigrant moth of fens, woodland, heathland and moorland, scarcer in the west. Turner (1955) listed it as rare and local. Most modern county records unsurprisingly come from the Quantocks and Avalon Marshes. The larval foodplant is birch.
