Small Purple-barred

A rare species of grassy places
with extremely poor soils, which are often rocky.&nbsp; The moths fly by day and also come to
light.&nbsp; Most records are from calcareous
sites, particularly on the Mendips and Poldens, but it also turns up locally
and irregularly at sites in inland Exmoor.

Scarce Blackneck

Rare, very local, resident on rocky coastlines and steep coastal cliffs between Minehead and the Devon border, where its foodplant, Wood Vetch, can be found. Owing to the impossibility of running lights on its habitat, traditionally recorded by searching for the nocturnal larvae, which in itself can be difficult and dangerous. Because of the difficulties in accessing its favoured sites, numbers may be higher than thought.&nbsp; Has also been recorded as a possible rare immigrant in southern counties. The distribution map shows an erroneous record from the Merriott area.

Waved Black

A resident of damp woodlands in south-east England and the West Midlands. Sightings elsewhere are most likely immigrants, such as the one county record at Middlezoy in 2015,&nbsp; when an individual came to light.
