Small Wainscot

Like many of its relatives, an
insect of damp places.&nbsp; Abounds on mire
habitat in the far west of the county, and fairly common on other wetland sites
throughout, wandering to garden light in small numbers.&nbsp; Understandably scarce where there is little
wetland habitat, on much of the Mendips and the east of the county.

Small Rufous

Essentially an insect of damp
habitats, moderately common on good sites, fairly readily wandering short
distances to garden lights, though the frequency of this varies from year to
year.&nbsp; Much scarcer in the drier east of
the county than elsewhere.

Brighton Wainscot

A species of arable farmland that&nbsp; was widely recorded in central southern England and last recorded on Salisbury Plain in 2001. Turner (1955) listed a 1955 record from Weston-Super-Mare, since when there has been just a handful of county records, presumably wanderers from Wiltshire. There have been no records since 1976.
