Still a widespread and common moth, though there is some evidence that it is not as abundant as it used to be.&nbsp; Quite variable in terms of the colour and intensity of the markings, though not the overall pattern.

Northern Rustic

A very local moth of rocky, usually coastal places, being attracted to light and also flying by day.&nbsp; In Somerset, it is only regularly recorded at Hurlstone Point.&nbsp; There are records in suitable habitat from Steep Holm and Crook Peak, though it appears to be absent from Brean Down, a site that might be expected to suit it.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Abundant throughout the county.&nbsp; This is quite a variable species, but size and shape gives away the identity.
