The Rivulet

Widespread across the county, although seldom recorded in numbers, feeding internally on the seed-heads of red campion, and likely to occur wherever campions are allowed to set seed.&nbsp; The maps suggest an absence from much of the Levels, which may be under-recording or may be due to lack of suitable foodplant.

Chimney Sweeper

A day-flying moth of rough, often acidic grassland and hay-meadows where its foodplant Pignut grows.&nbsp; Often common where it occurs, it can be astonishingly local, persisting in isolated populations based on a couple of suitable fields.&nbsp; Widespread on parts of Exmoor - though not the whole of the area - in two separate areas of the Mendips, on the limestone hills north of Bath, and in a well-known but isolated population at Mount Fancy which appears to be its only site in the Blackdowns.&nbsp; The moth is occasionally reported from elsewhere.<br>

Twin-spot Carpet

Strongly associated with moorland in Somerset - principally Exmoor, the Quantocks and parts of the Blackdowns.&nbsp; There are very few recent records from VC6.&nbsp; It is only occasionally found in gardens, and then usually in gardens near moorland.&nbsp; Although attracted to light, it is also active by day, and can be found in some numbers both by day and by night.
