The V-Moth

A species that has suffered severe national decline, possibly because its larval foodplants, Red Currant, Black Currant and Gooseberry, are not grown so much now in gardens. Historically, it was always&nbsp; occasional and very local in the county. It has not been recorded since 1989 so may now be extinct.&nbsp;

Sharp-angled Peacock

Quite a rare moth nationally, but widespread in Somerset and far commoner here than the very similar Peacock Moth.&nbsp; That said, numbers have declined considerably over the last two decades.

Tawny-barred Angle

Fairly widespread, but local.&nbsp; Associated with conifers, and accordingly most frequently found in upland, wooded areas, and scarce or absent from areas lacking coniferous woodland.
