Small Seraphim

Local and restricted in distribution, but can be abundant where it occurs, coming to light sometimes in good numbers, especially in the Avalon marshes and at Berrow.&nbsp; Less numerous elsewhere, and absent from some substantial areas of VC6 in particular.

Broom-tip

A nationally scarce species with a patchy distribution. It has always been very rare in the&nbsp; county, with just five records since 1950 (three of which are not shown on the distribution map).&nbsp; It is a species of heathland, moorland and open woodland, with most county records coming from the Minehead area. As the species name suggest, the larval foodplant is Broom.

The Seraphim

Scarce and local, probably restricted by the distribution of the foodplants, poplars and aspens, which are not widespread trees in Somerset. The moth is recorded in small but variable numbers each year, most frequently met with in the Taunton area; often, there is more than one recorded at light at once.
