This used to be widespread but local in southern England.  Turner (1955) listed two old records from Crowcombe and Weston-super-Mare and considered it to be very rare. There have been occasional records in southern England of presumed immigrants, including a county record of one attracted to light at Nether Stowey in May 1980.  It needs to be distinguished from Orange Sallow.
