ErebidaeABH 72.004 B&F 2480Extremely local in the county, most of the records coming from two areas at opposite ends of Somerset, around Bath and around Porlock. Usually very few records, apart from 2012 when there was a remarkable surge in records . It is a hop-feeding species that is confined mainly to south-east England, East Anglia and Monmouthshire. The forewing shape and 'buttons' distinguish it from other Snouts. It overwinters in adult form in outbuildings, caves, cellars and hollow trees.
