Saltern Ear

A moth of saltmarshes and sand dunes. It may sometimes be possible to separate the species from Ear Moth by certain characteristics but generally dissection will be required to identify it. Unsurprisingly, most county records have been coastal.

Rosy Rustic

Frequently recorded to light in small numbers and widespread through the county, though scarce or absent in some well-recorded areas (eastern Mendip for example).

The Butterbur

A local species of marshy ground, damp grassland, riverbanks and ditches, wherever its Butterbur foodplant can be found. Turner (1955) listed just one very old record at Taunton.&nbsp;
