Local and not especially common,
but appears distributed right across the county.

Now a very rare moth nationally.&nbsp; The only resident population is at Merryfield Airfield, where it has been known since at least 2009.&nbsp; There is one other record, from Asham Wood, near Frome, in 1937: "<i>...in 1935 I came across it accidentally in Dorset, just over the Somerset border, and have since been unsuccessfully trying to find it in this County, where it probably exists as the foodplant </i>Genista tinctoria<i>&nbsp;is abundant.&nbsp; It is probably not such a rarity as has been thought, and owing to its early appearance on the wing has been overlooked...</i>" (A. R. Hayward, 1937).&nbsp; Sadly the foodplant has declined massively since 1937 and only isolated populations remain.

Bath in 2013.&nbsp; A scattering of records as
far as Taunton have followed.&nbsp; Elsewhere
in the country, it has been readily attracted to pheromone lures.
