It is primarily a moth of open coastal habitats such as sand-dunes and shingle beaches, but may also occur on road verges and rough grassland. The foodplant is Yarrow, on whose flowers and seed heads the larva feeds. identification needs to be taken with care, so that Pauper, Plain, Pimpinel and Grey Pugs can be eliminated.
