Cloaked Pug

Has a very scattered distribution in Great Britain, and seems to be a very local species.&nbsp; Its larval foodplant is primarily large cones of mature Norway Spruce, so the species is restricted to conifer plantations.&nbsp; Not recorded in the county until 1965, after which there were a handful of records until 2015, when there were 11 records&nbsp; at Berkley Marsh near Frome in April and May.&nbsp;

Slender Pug

Thinly scattered across the county wherever there are stands of sallows - the larvae feed internally within sallow catkins.&nbsp; It is not often recorded at light in gardens, and is perhaps easier to find by collecting fallen sallow catkins in the spring and rearing through.&nbsp; There are no records from the south-eastern corner of the county, which may reflect under-recording or an absence of suitable sallows.

The moth is restricted to calcareous areas where its foodplant, Field Maple <i>Acer campestre</i> grows.&nbsp; Here it is widespread, though thinly scattered and never seems to occur in numbers.
