Slender Pug

Thinly scattered across the county wherever there are stands of sallows - the larvae feed internally within sallow catkins.&nbsp; It is not often recorded at light in gardens, and is perhaps easier to find by collecting fallen sallow catkins in the spring and rearing through.&nbsp; There are no records from the south-eastern corner of the county, which may reflect under-recording or an absence of suitable sallows.

Bilberry Pug

Restricted as a resident to Exmoor and the Quantocks.&nbsp; Most records are from light-trapping, but it has a reputation for being easier to find by netting at dusk.&nbsp; There are 2014 and 2017 records from Merriott, which must be of dispersing individuals.

Haworth's Pug

Uses the calcicole Traveller's Joy <i>Clematis vitalba</i>&nbsp;as a host plant, and not surprisingly the moth is associated with calcareous areas; largely absent from the Levels and the upland west of the county, though with a cluster of records around Porlock suggesting an isolated resident population.
