Toadflax Pug

Needs to be distinguished with care from the much more common Foxglove Pug and Double-striped Pug.&nbsp; Local, probably commoner in the south and west, and absent from large areas of the county.

Maple Pug

The moth is restricted to calcareous areas where its foodplant, Field Maple <i>Acer campestre</i> grows.&nbsp; Here it is widespread, though thinly scattered and never seems to occur in numbers.

Cloaked Pug

Has a very scattered distribution in Great Britain, and seems to be a very local species.&nbsp; Its larval foodplant is primarily large cones of mature Norway Spruce, so the species is restricted to conifer plantations.&nbsp; Not recorded in the county until 1965, after which there were a handful of records until 2015, when there were 11 records&nbsp; at Berkley Marsh near Frome in April and May.&nbsp;
