The Mullein

Widespread, most common north of
the Mendips.&nbsp; Most records are of the
conspicuous, brightly coloured larvae, usually found on mulleins but occasionally on garden buddleia.&nbsp; The adults do come to light in
small numbers early in the year.

Star-wort

A nationally scarce species of saltmarshes and open woodland, found mainly on the south and east coasts of England and south-west and north-west Wales.&nbsp; It may have been more widespread in the past. There has been just a couple of 20th century county records.

Striped Lychnis

A nationally scarce species, restricted to scattered localities in southern England. Turner (1955) listed it&nbsp;as very scarce and local and formerly possibly overlooked, or confused with Mullein. On average it is smaller and paler than the latter species. There are just two modern county records, in 1957 and 1960.
