Caryocolum alsinella

    Narrow Groundling

    GelechiidaeABH 35.128 B&F 827

In Somerset this specialist of sandy, coastal places has only been found at Berrow, most recently in 1987.  It is apparently reluctant to come to light and more often found as a larva.  The larval host plant is Small Mouse-ear Cerastium semidecandrum, on which the larvae make spinnings in the spring.
