Oak Bent-wing

Despite the scientific name,
associated with oak, not elm, and most records are of leaf-mines on oak.&nbsp; Commonest in woodlands but also occurs on
hedgerow oaks in areas where these are plentiful.&nbsp; Not recorded from several parts of the
county, in some instances perhaps through lack of recording, put possibly
genuinely absent from others through lack of host plant.

Alder Bent-wing

Scarce and local, associated with alder; perhaps
especially recorded from the Porlock area.&nbsp;


Lime Bent-wing

Perhaps the most
frequently-recorded of the Bucculatrix species, and common where it occurs, but
quite local, restricted by the distribution of its foodplants, limes <i>Tilia</i> spp.&nbsp; Commonest north of the Mendips and absent
from large areas in the southern two-thirds of the county.
