Sallow Marble

A local species, particularly in the south of the county –
perhaps surprisingly, as its foodplant, goat willow <i>Salix caprea</i>, is
much more widespread.

White-shouldered Marble

Recorded in small numbers most years, from areas where its
foodplant, birch, is common – mostly Exmoor, the Quantocks, the Blackdowns and
the Levels around Shapwick.

Birch Marble

Recorded in small numbers most years, generally from
birch-rich areas in the south and west of the county, and from the Shapwick
area.&nbsp; It may have declined somewhat in
the last century.
