Anacampsis blattariella

    Birch Roller

    GelechiidaeABH 35.012 B&F 854

Rare - records restricted to Shapwick, the Gordano valley and Asham Wood.  Although its foodplant, birch, is plentiful further west in the county, the Shapwick records represent the furthest west it has been found in this country.  Perhaps it finds the uplands of western Somerset unsuitable.

The adults require dissection to separate it from A. populella, unless reared from the larva.  Both species are variable in appearance.

    Adult Verification Grade: 4
