Dotted Carpet

Inhabits woodland and scrub with abundant lichen growth, especially large ancient woodlands.&nbsp; Its British population is restricted largely to the south-west, Wales and Scotland. Because of its habitat requirements, most county records come from Exmoor and the Quantocks.

Satin Beauty

Fairly common in the upland,
wooded areas of VC5 and spilling over the vice-county border into the Poldens;
otherwise rare in VC6.

Still a common and widespread moth, but numbers have never quite recovered from the poor summers beginning from 2007.
