Cistus Forester

    Adscita geryon

    ZygaenidaeABH 54.003 B&F 164

A day-flying species of calcareous grassland, probably in decline.  Most recent records are from Walton Common near Clevedon, though also at the remote and inaccessible Long Knoll in the far east of the county.  No recent records from the Mendips, and not seen at its traditional stronghold there, Dolebury Warren, since 2008.  Needs care to distinguish it from other forester species.

    Adult Verification Grade: 3
